Uplow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket Reactor is a methane producing Digester working on the principle of anaerobic digestion. The reactor has two zones –

 

Reaction Zone
• Sludge Bed zone

• Sludge Blanket zone

• Contains granular or Flocculant sludge

 

Settling Zone

• 3-phase separator

 

A suspended blanket of granular sludge is formed in the reactor. Wastewater flows upwards through the blanket and is processed (degraded) by the anaerobic microorganisms.
